The central point underpinning our ethos of preventative dentistry is the oral health assessment.
Oral Health Assessment
Attending regular assessments with your dentist helps us to identify potential issues early and begin treatment before it becomes a problem. It also provides an opportunity for you to discuss any concerns or ideas and aspirations you have regarding your smile or oral health.
A regular Oral health assessment typically takes 20 minutes and consists of the following:
- Thorough examination of the mouth, head and neck to check for active disease.
- Digital x-rays and clinical photography if appropriate
- Oral cancer screening
- Discussion on findings and recommended treatment options
At the end of the health assessment you will either be given a clean bill of health (in which case you will not need to come back until your next hygiene visit or health assessment) or you will have a clear treatment plan that you are comfortable with and will usually be booked in to commence your treatment at a later date.
