Dental Bridge

Dental Bridges are widely regarded as great fixed options to reconstruct parts of the smile whereby one or multiple adjacent teeth are eroded or missing and require reconstruction. Bridges utilise adjacent teeth to create strong support for weaker teeth.

Missing teeth and gaps can occur due to many different factors and if left untreated can result in changes to the way you speak and eat as well as putting increased stress on your remaining teeth. In addition, missing teeth can often have a negative impact on your self-confidence and smile. A Dental Bridge is an effective treatment option to replace single or multiple missing teeth where there are remaining teeth available on either side of the gap to anchor the bridge to. A bridge is effectively multiple porcelain crowns joined together to form a fixture that is cemented to the neighbouring natural teeth or implants. It is not removed in the same way a denture can be.

Dental Bridges may not always be the most suitable option to replace missing teeth, such as when the teeth either side are completely healthy, or they are too worn and compromised. In the first instance we would be reluctant to remove enamel from a healthy tooth in order to fit a bridge and, in the latter, it may not be possible to use a significantly damaged or compromised tooth to anchor the bridge effectively. In these cases, a dental implant may be advised as an alternative.
